Glidewell’s COO Greg Minzenmayer believes dentists can break through fear. Find out how in today’s #DrivingDentistryForward podcast
There’s nothing wrong with outsourcing. But, the Chief Operating Officer of one of the largest privately held dental laboratories on earth doesn’t see it as the * only * workable model for general dentists. “We at Glidewell don’t believe in outsourcing; it doesn’t work with our model. General dentists outsource a lot of business to other people. It’s the way the industry is structured and there’s nothing wrong if that’s how you choose to run your practice,” said the company’s COO Greg Minzenmayer. “But for the dentists who would like expand and get involved in these other areas, I would like to see the barriers brought down.” Minzenmayer gets into more detail in his discussion with Chuck Cohen during the latest Benco Dental Driving Dentistry Forward podcast.
“There’s a faction within dentistry who really like to keep things mysterious and complicated and scary…I’d like to see us break through the fog, break through the mystery and break it down to deliverable tasks dentists can learn to expand their business.” Greg Minzenmayer, Chief Operating Officer at Glidewell Dental
Breaking through the mystery
For the past five decades, Glidewell Laboratories, with founder Jim Glidewell, 75, at the helm, has innovated in every aspect of dentistry— to empower practitioners with laboratory services, technology and education.
Glidewell’s trusted aide-de-camp, Mizenmayer, has been second in command for nearly 15 years. He joined the company in 2006 as director of implant business development, bringing more than a decade of industry experience with him. He became COO in 2010 and is responsible for Glidewell Labs’ daily operations and system improvements. Minzenmayer managed the 2010 launch of Glidewell’s popular BruxZir solid zirconia crowns and recently unveiled the Zeramex XT, a two-piece metal-free ceramic implant that provides highly lifelike esthetics for anterior and thin tissues. Find out how they plan to use artificial intelligence at the company’s new 25,000 square foot R&D facility in Irvine, California, and learn what implant placement and sleep dentistry have in common.
