Centrix was founded by Dr. William B. Dragan, a restorative dentist passionate about finding “a better way” to use and place modern materials in order to make dentistry easier. Dr. Dragan graduated from Temple University in 1958 with a DDS Degree. He served over 40 years as a dentist at his practice in Stamford, CT and recently retired as Chairman and CEO of Centrix, Inc., in Shelton, CT.
Dr. Dragan retired from his position at Centrix and is focusing on his second passion, entrepreneurship. His son, Bill Dragan, currently serves as President and CEO of Centrix and continues to achieve Dr. Dragan’s commitment of “Making Dentistry Easier”.
Before his retirement from Centrix, Dr. Dragan was a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Society, Stamford Dental Society and more. He was a former fellow for the Academy of General Dentistry and Northeast Gnathological Society, and a lecturer and clinician at many institutions. In 2011, the William B. Dragan Scholarship Fund was established through a gift from Centrix and continues to help students today.
What began as his idea nearly 50 years ago, turned into a patent, that became the first-ever composite syringe system. Dr. Dragan’s innovative composite syringe enabled direct-to-the-prep delivery of new composite materials, making routine dental procedures easier on the dentist and patient. Since then his ideas and passion for “Making Dentistry Easier” have led to many innovative products including: the first one-piece bendable-head brush, Benda® Brush and Benda® Micro applicators; the broadest line of temporary filling materials, Tempit®; the only fluoride varnish to be named the Top Varnish four years in a row, FluoroDose® Fluoride Varnish; and the newest, most unique product, NoCord™ VPS, the first and only impression material that gives the doctor the flexibility to eliminate the retraction/ hemostasis steps.
