Global powerhouses in the areas of human capital strategy and future-facing digital innovation will dedicate expertise as trustees of nation’s largest independent distributor of oral healthcare technology and supplies
Benco Dental announces the appointment of two new members to the board of directors: Spencer Stuart’s Suzanne M. Burns, and Icreon Tech Global CEO, Himanshu Sareen. With the departure of seven-year director Marcy Syms, President, Sy Syms Foundation, this brings the number of board members to nine.
“We are pleased Suzanne and Manny will join our board. Their experience as highly-skilled professionals perfectly complements the backgrounds and talents of our existing board members,” said Anthony M. Romano, Lead Independent Board Director.
“I offer a heartfelt thank you to Marcy Syms for outstanding service these past seven years. She will be missed for her insight and experience growing a family business, as well as her governance skills in board discipline. We wish her continued success supporting many boards, most especially in her leadership role at the Sy Syms Foundation, which champions philanthropic activities.” -Anthony M. Romano, Lead Independent Board Director, Chair of Benco Dental Board of Directors.
As a global leadership advisory firm, Spencer Stuart advises companies on human capital strategy, leadership, and culture transformation. Burns specializes in accelerating talent impact in the areas of industrial digital technology, B2B distribution and B2B marketing. Earlier in her career, Burns led the integration of 11 previously acquired businesses into a multi-brand, multi-channel U.S. business model at global distributor, W.W. Grainger, Inc. Burns also brings multi-industry, global P&L experience to the board of directors at Benco Dental.
“At Spencer Stuart, I regularly work with Boards of Directors, helping them to define talent needs for the board room, or navigating CEO transitions. This affords me the opportunity to experience best governance practices at work. I look forward to bringing that perspective to Benco,” said Burns.
“I am excited to be supporting an organization that understands the power of purpose and caring in fulfilling its strategy, and in navigating this new hybrid world of work. Our own research on culture and leadership at Spencer Stuart has underscored the growing importance of the kind of learning and innovation that Benco is committed to fostering.” – Suzanne M. Burns, Spencer Stuart, on her appointment to the Benco Dental Board of Directors
Sareen founded Icreon in 2000 with a vision to deliver real digital innovation to client organizations, and has stewarded it from a basement startup to a 350+ people full-service agency working with some of the most recognizable global brands.
As a notable source on trends in business and technology, he has contributed thought leadership to top media outlets, including CNBC, BBC, and FOX Business.
“What I’ve found interesting is that in spite of scale, size and generational changes, Benco has maintained agility. The entrepreneurial mindset seems to be prevalent there and a lot of innovation is happening within the organization. Benco has done an impressive job of embracing the incredible role technology and data analytics play,” said Sareen, who earned an MBA from IIFT in New Delhi and is also a Harvard Business School OPM graduate.
Sareen is the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) Northeast U.S. He also built ‘Icreon for Good’ (IFG), an organization that makes literacy more accessible to underprivileged children and youth in India.
“Because I don’t come from dentistry, I have a fresh perspective on helping Chuck (Cohen) and Rick (Cohen) and rest of board as they think about the next drivers of growth for the business.” -Icreon Tech Global CEO, Himanshu Sareen, on his appointment to the Benco Dental Board of Directors
