Biggest Challenge

Dr. Briscoe’s daughter Addison was born three months premature, two days after he and wife, Holly, arrived in Longview. Addison’s upper arm fit inside his wedding ring. The couple spent 80 days in the hospital with their daughter — not the way they envisioned meeting the people in their new community. But the experience showed him the locals’ compassion, he says. Addison is now 5 years old, and the Briscoes have turned this challenge into a chance to give back. “I promised every one of the nurses who saved my daughter that they would get free braces,” he says. With another family, the Briscoes also established the KAJ Foundation, which has raised $80,000 for the neonatal care unit at the hospital where Addison was treated.
